The Treasurer is responsible for the management of the Finance Department. On behalf of Council and under its direction, the Treasurer is in charge of the Corporation's financial affairs, in accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001.

Under Council's direction, the Treasurer prepares and ensures the sound management of the operating budget and the capital budget. The Treasurer also prepares the financial statements and presents them to an independent auditing firm to be verified.

Municipal Performance Measurement Program

The Municipal Performance Measurement Program (MPMP) is an initiative that aims to provide taxpayers with relevant data on service delivery. It also offers a tool to municipalities, which they can use to progressively improve their services.

In accordance with this program, which is under the guidance of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, municipalities must collect data in order to measure the quality of the services they provide within 12 important categories.

Tax Rebate Program

Several property tax rebate programs are offered to charities, as well as to low-income seniors and low-income persons with disabilities.

This section contains the documentation and application forms for tax rebates relating to charities and senior citizens. In order to become eligible for a tax rebate, a form must be completed and presented to the municipality in which property taxes are paid.
