Following the Ontario government’s announcement to gradually resume visits to long-term care homes, the Prescott and Russell Residence is pleased to announce that family and friends of residents will be allowed access to the facility beginning next Thursday, June 18. Please note that long-term care homes are allowed outdoor visits of one person per resident each week. For more information, please read the following procedures established in collaboration with the Ministry of Long-Term Care:

Appointment scheduling

  • A schedule will be established and the current schedule will be modified to ensure that everyone can visit.
  • Contact extension 246 at the Residence to modify your schedule. However, a cancellation does not mean that you will have another appointment the same week.
  • There will be a limit of one visit per week, per resident. Only one person will be allowed to visit the resident. This physical visit will replace the FaceTime or Skype call.

Thank you for your cooperation.

In the event of inclement weather, the physical visit will be replaced by a virtual visit.

Before the visit

  • A screening test for COVID-19 is mandatory. A result more than two weeks prior to the visit will not be valid. The result must be obtained prior to the visit and proof must be provided at the visit.
  • Visitors must take their temperature and show no signs or symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Please bring a mask or visor. These are mandatory during the visit.
  • If you would like to sit down, you are asked to bring a chair or bench.

At the appointment

  • You are asked to be present five (5) minutes before your appointment.
  • A verbal questionnaire will be required in order to do an active screening.
    • If one of the criteria is not met, you will be asked to leave the premises.à
  • The visit will take place with either a mask or a visor.
  • No transfer of goods or edible items will be authorized. The social distance of two (2) metres must be respected at all times.
  • No pets will be allowed on the premises during the visit (this is a Ministry of Long-Term Care restriction).
If these guidelines are not respected, the Prescott and Russell Residence reserves the right to cancel the visit to ensure the health and safety of everyone. For more information, please visit the Government of Ontario website.
