Update: Construction of the New Residence

The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (the “UCPR”) would like to share an update on the Prescott and Russell Residence Redevelopment Project. The move, originally scheduled for spring 2024, is now scheduled for fall 2024.

Under construction since winter 2021, the new Prescott and Russell Residence is in the heart of the Town of Hawkesbury, close to the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital. The completion of this new building is one of the priorities of the Warden and the UCPR Council for the year 2024.

"Work is progressing well on site, and the teams are mobilized in all areas of the building. The UCPR want to reassure the community that the goal is still to open the new Residence as quickly as possible, and that we are working closely with all partners to achieve this," explained Pierre Leroux, Warden of the UCPR.

"Our priority is always to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of our residents. We also want to provide the best possible working environment for all our staff members. To ensure a smooth transition to the new Prescott and Russell Residence, we have decided to delay the move. We look forward to welcoming our residents to the new location in the fall," said Eric Larocque, Administrator of the Prescott and Russell Residence.

THE NEW PRESCOTT AND RUSSELL RESIDENCE

The new Prescott and Russell Residence will occupy a total area of 193,000 square feet and will have a total of 224 beds - which is 109,000 square feet and 78 beds more than the current facility. Its design will exceed all of the requirements of Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, providing residents with an unrivalled living environment.

The new Residence will feature a central courtyard, interior courtyards, and plenty of windows to ensure excellent lighting throughout the building. New workspaces and state-of-the-art equipment will ensure that staff can offer quality care in a safe environment.
